Ketchikan fishing charters with a captain who knows this water
Alaska Fishing Company is a family-owned charter business running out of Clover Pass, a short drive north of downtown Ketchikan. Captain Jim has guided these waters for ten years and fished them for twenty. Trolling for salmon is the fishing he loves most, but he is equally at home putting a big halibut in the boat, and he works well with everyone from first-time anglers and kids to seasoned fishermen. Each trip is planned around the tide, the weather, and the people on board. He also compares notes daily with a group of Ketchikan captains, so the day starts with more than one boat’s read on the water.

Choose your charter
Every charter runs on the same boat, with the same captain and the same well-maintained tackle. The difference is how much time you have on the water and what we chase with it. Fishing with a party of more than six? See group charters.

Full-Day Fishing
The whole day, roughly 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enough time to run farther and stay with the fish.

More hours means better water
Ketchikan’s fishing grounds are spread out, and some of the most productive water sits a long run from the dock. Boat travel comes straight out of your fishing time, so the farthest grounds only come into play when the clock allows. A full day gives Jim room to run wider, adjust with the tide, and change tactics if the first plan is slow. If you can spare the day, spend it on the water.

Your captain
Meet Captain Jim
Jim has fished his whole life, and Ketchikan’s water is what turned it into a career. He has spent twenty years fishing this area and ten years guiding it, across every style the region offers, from trolling for salmon to working the bottom for big halibut. He is a natural teacher on the water and adjusts the day to the group he has aboard, from someone hooking a first salmon to anglers who have fished their whole lives.

The boat & the dock
Depart from Clover Pass
Trips meet at Clover Pass Resort, about 15 miles north of downtown Ketchikan, with fishing water close at hand. You’ll fish from the Laney-Roo, a 27-foot North River Seahawk Offshore set up for serious fishing and comfortable enough for a full day, with room for up to six anglers.

After the trip
Your catch, handled at the dock
When we get back, the processing crew meets the boat and takes your catch from there. Stay and watch it get cut and vacuum sealed, or head out and let them handle it. Processing at Clover Pass can include vacuum packing, boxing, freezing, storage, and getting fish ready to fly or ship home.

Guests keep coming back
